Four important quotes pertaining to Elvis’s death and the situation on August 16:

“The biggest single problem is what happened when Elvis died.”

“The caller would not give a name.”

“[The caller] called again…”

“They didn’t know what to do about it…”

The events of August 16 are largely shaped by the accounts and stories told by those who were around Graceland that day. Then we can factor in a few outside researchers and newspaper articles, and the story as a whole emerges. This is the set-in-stone story that Elvis fans know. From midnight on that Tuesday until late that Friday, four days inclusive, the events weave a story of the hours just before Elvis’s death, then run through the rest of Tuesday and into late Friday. The Elvis community relies on the people who provide this information to be truthful, and accurate.

Four days is 96 hours. Midnight on Tuesday to about nine o’clock that morning, then we pick it back up at 2:20pm, and continue on for the rest of the week. So out of those 96 hours, the only time frame that remains a mystery is approximately 9:00am to 2:20pm on Tuesday. Sure, we hear from the Stanley brothers on the noon shift change (a mess of lies and omissions), but otherwise there is a window of time where presumably nothing happened. But think about it: Isn’t it possible that something happened during this five-hour-and-twenty-minute stretch that would explain a lot of the contradictions and inconsistences in the history books? What if Elvis experienced a medical emergency and could possibly have been saved…had emergency care been provided instead of adhering to protocol?
